France's wine production is forecasted to reach 39.3 million hectolitres this year, marking an 18% decline from the previous year, the farm ministry announced on Friday.
The current expectations fall short of the initial range of 40-43 million hectolitres projected last month, blamed primarily on unfavourable weather conditions.
The revised forecast also stands 11% below the five-year average of 44.2 million hectolitres, as stated by the ministry. For context, a hectolitre equates to 100 litres or approximately 133 standard wine bottles.
