Leaders and workers from the opposition INDIA bloc on Saturday staged protest marches across Bihar, citing the deteriorating law and order situation.
Leaders from RJD, Congress, CPI-ML (Liberation), CPI(M), CPI, and other opposition parties marched from Income Tax Crossing to Dak Bungalow Crossing in Patna, chanting anti-government slogans. The protest highlighted concerns about rising crime rates and demands for democratic reforms. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC), criticized the Nitish Kumar-led government, stating, ''The state is plagued by daily incidents of murder, rape, kidnapping, and extortion.''
Singh further added that the crime rates have surged and the government seems indifferent to public safety. Mehboob Alam, CPI(ML) Liberation leader, echoed similar sentiments, indicating that if the Chief Minister can't control the situation, he should resign. The opposition also plans to address this issue in the upcoming monsoon session of the assembly.
In response, senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary argued that the law and order situation has improved since Nitish Kumar became Chief Minister, contrasting it with the previous RJD government. Nevertheless, protests by INDIA bloc leaders were witnessed in other parts of the state, criticizing the government over recent violent incidents.
