In a tragic incident, a Border Security Force officer and a jawan lost their lives during a patrol due to extreme weather conditions at the Harami Nallah creek along the India-Pakistan international border in Gujarat, the BSF reported on Saturday.
The unfortunate incident involved Assistant Commandant Vishwa Deo and Head Constable Dayal Ram from the 59th battalion, who reportedly suffered from heat stroke and dehydration on Friday, sources stated. Despite immediate evacuation to a health facility in Bhuj, both men could not be saved.
A BSF spokesperson from the Gandhinagar-based Gujarat frontier explained that the men were conducting a long-range border patrol in remote, inaccessible terrain known for its treacherous conditions. The harsh weather, with temperatures ranging between 34-36 degrees Celsius and humidity levels of 80-82 percent, overwhelmed them despite their training and experience.
