Three officials from Jamia Millia Islamia, including a professor and both current and former registrars, have been booked for allegedly making casteist remarks on a university employee, according to officials.
The case was registered under sections 3(1)(p) and 3(1)(q) of the SC/ST Act following a complaint filed at Jamia Nagar police station on July 15. The complainant claimed persistent harassment by the accused, who allegedly subjected him to caste slurs and multiple transfers under the guise of administrative reasons.
Jamia Millia Islamia, in an official statement, dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused the complainant of being a habitual litigant aiming to destabilize the university's administration. The university stated it would pursue appropriate legal action to protect its employees and maintain its smooth functioning.
