Authorities have detained a hospital attendant for allegedly raping a 51-year-old Kazakhstani woman who was recovering from arthroscopy surgery in a private hospital. Officials identified the suspect as Thakur Singh, 24, who worked at Artemis Hospital.

The incident reportedly took place on Sunday morning while the woman was sedated, police confirmed. She had been admitted to the hospital on July 9, with her surgery performed on Saturday. Post-surgery, she was moved to a ward where she was accompanied by her daughter.

The woman's daughter discovered Singh with her mother and immediately raised an alarm, prompting a police investigation. Singh was arrested and temporarily suspended from his job. An FIR has been filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Singh appeared in court on Monday and was remanded to judicial custody. Police are continuing their investigation.
