Farmers and Left Parties Stage Rail-Roko Agitation in Tamil Nadu

Farmers and Left party members held a rail-roko protest in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvarur district, demanding Karnataka release Cauvery water. The agitators urged central intervention to ensure Tamil Nadu received its share. In nearby Tiruchirappalli, protesters also targeted Karnataka Bank, calling for immediate water release.

Farmers and members of Left parties staged a rail-roko protest at Thiruthuraipoondi in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvarur district on Tuesday, demanding that Karnataka release Cauvery water to sustain agriculture in the state. The demonstration aimed to urge the Centre to intervene and ensure Tamil Nadu receives its due share of water from the river.

In a separate protest in front of Karnataka Bank in Tiruchirappalli, demonstrators called on the Karnataka government to release water immediately. Members of the CPI and CPI(M) who participated in the rail-roko agitation condemned the Karnataka government for withholding water and raised slogans against it.

Police quickly arrived at the scene to remove the protesters from the railway track.
