Four police personnel in Chitrakoot have been suspended after a man who fled from a police station was later found dead on railway tracks, officials stated on Tuesday.

Anshu, 27, was brought to the Manikpur police station Sunday evening for allegedly causing a disturbance during a Moharram procession, according to Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh. CCTV footage shows Anshu arriving at the station on an e-rickshaw at 7 pm, only to be seen running outside within nine minutes.

The police personnel made no immediate attempt to locate Anshu, revealing a lapse in their duties, the SP mentioned. Anshu's body was subsequently discovered on nearby railway tracks. As a result, SHO Vinod Shukla, head constable Veer Singh, and constables Pramod Paswan and Ankit Rajput have been suspended, and an FIR has been lodged against them.
