A city court on Monday remanded Jaffer Sadiq, a dismissed DMK functionary, to judicial custody until July 29 in connection with a money laundering case brought against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Sadiq was presented before Principal Sessions Judge S Alli by the ED. His bail in a separate narcotics case had been granted earlier by a Delhi court. Sadiq was arrested in March this year by the Narcotics Control Bureau for alleged drug smuggling.

Seeking a 15-day custody of Sadiq, the ED claimed the accused was being pressured to name three to four influential individuals. The judge decided to delay a decision on the ED's request for custody until Tuesday.
