The bodies of two children were found in a water-filled pit in Patna early Monday morning, according to local police. Their identities remain undisclosed. The children's parents last saw them around 11am on Sunday and reported them missing to Gardani Bagh police station.
Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra informed reporters about the search operation that led to the discovery of the bodies near an under-construction bridge in Beur area around 6:30 am. Officers at the scene believe the children may have drowned.
Contrary to circulating unverified reports of foul play, SSP Mishra refuted claims that the children's limbs were bound, they had stab wounds, or that their eyes were gouged. Further investigation is ongoing.
Family members and local residents, nonetheless, alleged murder and made attempts to block traffic on the Beur-Patna road in protest, prompting police to intervene and disperse the crowd.
