A police driver has been arrested and charged with attempt to murder after a shocking incident at a petrol pump in Kannur. The accused, identified as K Santhosh Kumar, tried to leave the station without paying for the fuel and hit an employee, carrying him on the car's bonnet for nearly a kilometer.
Kannur city police commissioner Ajith Kumar confirmed that multiple charges, including attempt to murder, have been filed against the accused, who has also been suspended from service. The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media platforms.
The employee, Anil, who sustained injuries to his hands, lodged a formal complaint with the Town Police. The recorded arrest took place on Monday, bringing attention to the dangerous actions of the officer involved.
