An Odisha police officer and a truck driver were apprehended in Chhattisgarh's Durg district for the alleged possession of cannabis valued at Rs 2 lakh, local police affirmed on Monday.

Following a tip-off, law enforcement intercepted a truck on the Kumhari-Ahiwara Road under the jurisdiction of Kumhari police station on Sunday. They discovered 20 kg of the prohibited substance concealed in the driver's cabin, an official reported.

The arrested individuals, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravindra Bhukta (50) and truck driver Gagan Anand Mehar (42), both from Cuttack in Odisha, admitted that they had transported the consignment to Bhilai city for sale.
