Kingpin of Opium Drug Racket Arrested in Shimla
Shimla Police have arrested Ravi Giri, identified as the kingpin of an opium drug racket. Giri, a Nepalese national, was apprehended after police nabbed two other suspects with 1.5 kg opium. He has been booked under the NDPS Act, with financial transactions amounting to Rs 3.40 crore.

Shimla Police have made a significant breakthrough by arresting Ravi Giri, the alleged kingpin of an opium drug racket. Giri, hailing from Nepal, was apprehended following the arrest of two Nepalese nationals in possession of 1.5 kg of opium on July 3.
According to Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi, the accused has been charged under Section 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Gandhi revealed that Giri's financial transactions since 2022 have amounted to around Rs 3.40 crore. Authorities are continuing their investigations and aim to identify and seize all illegal properties related to the accused.
The arrest marks a crucial step in curbing the opium trade operations in the region, highlighting the ongoing efforts of the Shimla Police to tackle drug-related criminal activities.
