A 35-year-old woman from Chitalsar has reportedly lost approximately Rs 1 crore in a share trading scam, sources revealed on Thursday. Police have confirmed that an FIR has been lodged under the Information Technology Act at Chitalsar police station following the incident, but no suspects have been apprehended so far, PTI reported.
According to the victim's statement, the scammers initially approached her online in April, inviting her to join a social media group comprised of stock market investors. Once trust was established, the group leaders persuaded her to invest money based on their advice, promising high returns.
Unfortunately, after she followed their instructions and clicked on specific links sent by the alleged fraudsters, a sum of Rs 99,28,167 was transferred from her and her husband's bank accounts, she informed the police. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
