Appointed as the official 'Food Waste Reduction Partner', ne'ma will spearhead efforts to combat food waste during the popular culinary festival from November 15 to 17 at Gateway Park South on Yas Island.
Attracting an estimated 17,000 visitors, the event will feature collaborations with chefs, restaurants, and vendors to efficiently manage food waste. ne'ma plans to enlighten attendees about the origins of food waste and offer practical, everyday solutions. Partnering strategically with ReLoop, ne'ma will oversee the composting of food scraps generated, transforming waste into valuable, nutrient-rich compost for local agriculture.
In a statement, Khuloud Hasan Al Nuwais, Chief Sustainability Officer of Emirates Foundation, emphasized the pressing issue of the UAE's 3.5 million tonnes of annual food waste. By partnering with Taste of Abu Dhabi, ne'ma aims to engage directly with the community and set new expectations for reduced carbon footprints at events.
