In a troubling incident highlighting security concerns, Polish tourists visiting Karachi, Pakistan, were reportedly robbed by individuals impersonating police officers. The tourists, who were unaccompanied by security personnel, were relieved of over USD 1,800 by the imposters. According to ARY News, the incident unfolded on Sunday in the Khayaban-e-Mujahid region of Karachi.
Authorities revealed that these tourists had not notified local security forces of their visit, leaving them vulnerable to such fraudulent acts. Although their statements have been documented, the tourists have yet to officially file a complaint. This incident marks a pattern, as Lahore's Millat Park also experienced a similar case of robbery by individuals masquerading as CIA officials back in May, with culprits making away with valuables including cash and mobile phones.
Notably, another incident saw thieves in police uniforms looting a residence in Hadyara, Islamabad, where they absconded with substantial amounts of jewelry and cash. Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report such incidents to authorities amid increasing concerns over police impersonations. Investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits behind these brazen acts, as police look into the rising trend of crimes involving impersonation of law enforcement officers.
