In Gujarat, residents of Dhanera, Kankrej, and Deodar took to the streets Thursday, opposing the state government's decision to transfer them from Banaskantha to the newly established Vav-Tharad district.
The decision resulted from a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, sanctioning the bifurcation of Banaskantha to create a district comprising Vav, Tharad, Bhabhar, and others, with headquarters in Tharad.
Protesters, joined by notable political figures, expressed discontent due to a lack of consultation, emphasizing their preference to stay within Banaskantha, citing historical and logistical reasons.
