Yamaha Motor, a prominent figure in the motorcycle industry, has launched the Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) system, a cutting-edge innovation that integrates clutch lever, shift pedal, and transmission control into a single handlebar lever. This system aims to enhance rider convenience, comfort, and safety.
Koji Tsuya, a Yamaha Motors executive, explained that the Y-AMT system's primary objective is to broaden the enjoyment spectrum for motorcycle enthusiasts. It grants even the most seasoned sports riders a new comfort level previously thought unattainable, merging the thrill of sports riding with improved rider-machine interaction.
Shinya Nakano, a former professional racer, noted the system's ease, particularly during U-turns or traffic jams, as it alleviates clutch control challenges. The Y-AMT system allows for seamless mode switching between manual and automatic with just a finger, minimizing fatigue and enhancing the rider's focus on safety and enjoyment.
