Political Tug-of-War: Pakistan Parties Clash over Judicial Reforms
Pakistan's leading political parties, PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F, are divided over constitutional amendments for judicial reform. JUI-F's demands include an interest-free state by 2028, which clashes with other parties' views. In a move stirring Pakistani politics, major political entities PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F have reached a tentative agreement on judicial reforms through 'constitutional amendments'. However, not all parties see eye-to-eye. JUI-F, led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has expressed reservations about certain aspects, ARY News reported.
JUI-F has demanded significant changes, including an amendment to Article 38 aiming to establish an interest-free state by 2028, a proposal not previously part of the parliamentary-approved draft. This amendment is seen as crucial by Maulana Fazlur Rehman's party, further revealed ARY News.
Moreover, JUI-F insists that all bills should undergo review by the Council of Islamic Ideology, a condition not yet embraced by the special parliamentary committee's draft. While discussions continue, the government is pressing on to present the reform package in parliament, even without JUI-F's full support, sources disclosed to ARY News.
