Jaishankar Reaffirms India's Stand: Dialogue, Not War, Key to Ukraine Crisis

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday reiterated India's stance on the Ukraine-Russia conflict, emphasizing that resolution can only come through dialogue and negotiations, not war. Speaking at a joint press conference with German Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock, Jaishankar highlighted India's involvement in specific peace initiatives.
Jaishankar remarked that discussions with Germany on Ukraine are frequent, noting, "Minister Baerbock and I regularly talk about Ukraine. We are talking about this time in person. But from time to time, we speak on the phone or otherwise." He mentioned India's role in initiatives like the green corridor and security matters concerning the Zaporizhzhia nuclear station.
He further underscored Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomatic engagements with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Modi's meetings in Russia and Ukraine this year involved extensive discussions. Jaishankar affirmed, "We don't believe that differences and disputes can be settled through war. Negotiations are the only way forward."
