The Quad nations - India, the US, Australia, and Japan - have renewed their commitment to fostering a peaceful, stable, and free Indo-Pacific region. This pledge was made as the coalition marks its 20th anniversary, highlighting a shared vision for prosperity amid regional tensions.
The grouping's foreign ministers outlined their collaborative approach in a joint statement, responding to increased regional assertiveness, particularly from China. Emphasizing ASEAN's central role, they committed to strengthening regional institutions and supporting the Indo-Pacific's needs.
Originally formed in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean disaster, the Quad continues to prioritize humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. The ministers vowed to enhance their cooperation in these areas, building on a track record of significant support and preparedness for future crises.
