PM Modi and Singapore's Lawrence Wong Promote Semiconductor Collaboration at AEM Holdings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside Singapore's Lawrence Wong, toured the semiconductor facility of AEM Holdings Ltd, inviting local semiconductor companies to participate in SEMICON INDIA exhibition from September 11-13 in Greater Noida. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the leaders discussed AEM's role in the global semiconductor value chain and its plans for India.

The MEA press release highlighted that the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association provided insights into Singapore's semiconductor ecosystem and collaborative opportunities with India. Representatives from several Singaporean companies attended the briefing, reinforcing the bilateral interest. Modi extended an invitation for these companies to attend the upcoming SEMICON INDIA exhibition.

During their visit, Modi and Wong engaged with Indian interns from Odisha's World Skill Centre and Singaporean interns who participated in the CII-Enterprise Singapore India Ready Talent Programme, as well as Indian engineers at AEM. The MEA stated that both nations are poised to enhance cooperation in semiconductor manufacturing, demonstrated by the conclusion of the MoU on India-Singapore Semiconductor Ecosystem Partnership and adding Advanced Manufacturing as a notable pillar of bilateral relations.

Further emphasizing the collaboration, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X, praising the India-Singapore Skills Partnership. Earlier discussions between Modi and Wong also covered boosting sectors like skilling, healthcare, and AI. The visit culminated in the exchange of four MoUs, emphasizing digital technologies, semiconductor sector partnership, and initiatives in health and education, signed in the presence of the leaders at Singapore's Parliament House.

Before his arrival in Singapore, Modi visited Brunei and engaged with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, underscoring India's efforts to strengthen regional ties.
