Anticipation is high among the Indian community in Brunei as they prepare to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his first-ever visit to the country, scheduled for September 3-4. The historic visit is expected to enhance bilateral relations and fortify ties between the two nations.

Members of Brunei's vibrant Indian diaspora expressed their enthusiasm, with Ramesh Jeewatram Bhavnani highlighting the visit's importance. 'The Prime Minister's visit underscores his commitment to the Indian community here. It is a significant step,' he told ANI, praising Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah for his equitable treatment of all communities.

Another community member, Hitesh Ramesh Bhavnani, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the excitement and thorough preparation among the Indian community. The visit marks a momentous occasion for the diaspora, significantly contributing to Brunei's development across various sectors including education and healthcare.

Long-time resident Venkat Ramana Rao noted the remarkable journey of the Indian community since 2002, stating that Prime Minister Modi's visit has generated excitement among both the Indian and local Bruneian populations. Vazeer Khan from the Indian Chamber of Commerce anticipates bolstered ties, while Md Irfan highlights the visit's potential to enhance trade and cultural exchange. PM Modi's visit aligns with India's 'Act East' policy, aiming to reinforce engagement with Southeast Asia.
