US Congressman Jonathan Jackson has lauded Vice President Kamala Harris as the "most qualified" candidate for the top of the ticket, citing her diverse cultural background. Raised by an Asian mother in the US, Harris embodies qualities from multiple worlds, Jackson told ANI. Jackson, son of civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson, described Harris as loving and caring, with a deep understanding of various cultures.

Discussing Harris's biracial identity, Jackson emphasized the unity of humanity. "God made one blood type with several variations," he said, celebrating her Jamaican and Asian heritage. He praised her as a symbol of America's diverse future and highlighted the historical achievements of women in US government roles.

Harris, the daughter of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother, is the first Asian American and Black woman to head a major party ticket. She secured the nomination following President Biden's decision to exit the race amid concerns over his age. Jackson also spoke on India's increasing global prominence and the potential for continued strong US-India relations under a Democratic administration.

Jackson commended Congressman Ro Khanna for his efforts to connect historically black colleges with the tech sector, reflecting the collaboration between Indian and African American communities. He expressed excitement over the Democratic National Convention's palpable energy, contrasting the hopeful future represented by Harris with the contrasting image of her opponents.

The DNC, themed "For the People, For Our Future," kicked off in Chicago and will see Mike Waltz, Harris's running mate, officially accept the vice-presidential nomination. Reflecting on past conventions, Jackson noted that the current high energy level shows the party's progress over the years, highlighting the importance of female leadership.

Jonathan Jackson praised his father, Reverend Jesse Jackson, for his lifelong dedication to civil rights, underscoring the generational progress toward equality and representation in American politics. Reverend Jackson's appearance at the DNC, where he received a standing ovation, was a reminder of the enduring fight for civil rights, despite his ongoing battle with Parkinson's disease.
