The European Space Agency's JUICE spacecraft is set to perform a historic Lunar-Earth gravity assist maneuver on August 19-20. The spacecraft will fly within 6,800 kilometres of Earth, allowing a fleeting glimpse for observers in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Launched in April 2022, JUICE is on a mission to explore Jupiter and its three icy moons. The spacecraft will reach Jupiter by July 2031 to investigate the potential for life and the planet's origins. Partnering countries include Japan, Israel, and the United States.

This upcoming flyby is the first of four, enabling JUICE to adjust its path efficiently. Utilizing gravitational assists from the Moon and Earth will save propellant. This mission marks a significant milestone in space exploration.
