Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday proposed a comprehensive 'Global Development Compact' at the Voice of Global South Summit. The proposal is rooted in India's development journey and seeks to address debt burdens and climate change while fostering mutual understanding among participating nations.
The Third Voice of Global South Summit, hosted by India virtually, saw participation from 123 countries. External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, highlighted that this is the first major plurilateral event organized by the BJP-led NDA Government in its third term.
Jaishankar noted significant discussions on global governance reforms and shared concerns over political interference, climate change, and debt burdens faced by developing countries. PM Modi emphasized India's commitment to promoting a human-centric, multi-dimensional, and multi-sectoral approach to development. The summit underscored the need for equitable global governance and democratizing international norms.
