PML-N President Nawaz Sharif has mandated his brother Shehbaz Sharif, who leads the federal government, and his daughter Maryam Nawaz, overseeing Punjab, to address surging electricity bills. This directive is seen as essential for the party's rejuvenation, reports Dawn News. Meeting with senior party members at Model Town on Thursday, Sharif tackled issues like electricity costs, party resurgence, local elections, and federal-Punjab coordination.

Nawaz Sharif had spent weeks in Murree before leading the meeting, which saw attendance from influential figures such as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, and several federal ministers. The focus was on PML-N's comeback following poor February election results. Afterwards, PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal confirmed, "Nawaz Sharif has asked the federal and Punjab governments to work together to find a solution to soaring electricity bills," Dawn News reported.

The PML-N administration remains optimistic about reducing electricity costs, referencing their success with load-shedding in 2013. Discussions also covered the need for political reactivation and reorganization, with plans to restore local body laws from Hamza Shehbaz's tenure and reimplement effective local government legislation. Monthly Central Executive Committee meetings were also agreed upon.

Ahsan Iqbal commented on the arrest of former ISI chief Faiz Hameed, calling it a positive move, though an internal army matter, according to Dawn News. The meeting concluded with a commitment to address electricity bill relief and criticized the PTI government for inflation and high bills. Nawaz Sharif indicated a readiness to forgo political gains to avert economic default, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to present his economic strategy soon, ANI reported.
