The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) has made a fervent appeal to US lawmakers, urging swift and decisive action in response to the increasing violence against the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. Recent reports indicate a disturbing rise in attacks, including the killing of dozens of Hindus, vandalism of temples, and targeting of Hindu properties.

The escalating violence has instilled widespread fear among the Hindu community, both in Bangladesh and within the diaspora in the United States. CoHNA has reported a terrifying scale of aggression, including sexual violence against Hindu women, further exacerbating the community's distress.

Drawing parallels to the atrocities during Operation Searchlight in 1971, CoHNA fears another catastrophic loss of life if immediate measures are not taken. They have highlighted the ongoing persecution, noting the historical and current threats faced by the Hindu minority, which constitutes less than eight percent of Bangladesh's population.

CoHNA has criticized the lack of media coverage on the targeted nature of this violence, arguing that the Hindu minority's plight is overshadowed by broader geopolitical tensions. They have called on US lawmakers, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, to closely monitor the situation and pressure Bangladeshi authorities to protect Hindu citizens.

The Coalition demands accountability for the perpetrators and requests the US facilitate the resettlement of vulnerable Hindus through the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). CoHNA emphasized the moral responsibility of the United States to prevent another genocide and to stand up for religious minorities.

Additionally, CoHNA has sought an urgent meeting with US lawmakers to discuss actionable solutions to the crisis. They stressed that silence is not an option and that decisive US action could significantly help in preventing further violence and protecting the Hindu community in Bangladesh. CoHNA remains committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of Hindus across North America.
