The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast predicting heavy rainfall in Karachi from August 4 to 7, according to Geo News. After experiencing light rain and drizzle earlier, the city is expected to see more substantial rain showers starting from Friday.

As per Geo News, the effects of the monsoon system will become evident starting Friday, with light to torrential rain showers anticipated in the port city. The weather department forecasts light to heavy rain, with some areas potentially receiving up to 100mm of rainfall.

The department has cautioned that most parts of the city can expect rainfall between 40mm to 60mm, with some areas possibly breaking records. The urban metropolis is also likely to experience rain showers on Saturday.

Previously, the PMD had forecast moderate to torrential rains in Karachi from August 3 to 5. Additionally, heavy rain showers hit various areas of Karachi on July 31, flooding low-lying areas amid the prediction of more heavy showers.

Intermittent rain showers were observed last night in places such as Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Baldia Town, Defence, and North Karachi. Concurrently, the Met Office predicted rain showers with lightning in different areas of Sindh as strong monsoon winds from Rajasthan and the Arabian Sea are likely to influence the region from Friday.

It is also possible that Sindh's low-lying areas could be inundated due to the heavy rains. Additionally, mountainous regions in Balochistan, including Kirthar, and rivers and nullahs may face flooding risks in the event of heavy rainfall. Areas such as Daddu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, and Jamshoro may also face flash floods, the office warned. (ANI)
