Two individuals have been accused of stealing water after an illegal hydrant was uncovered in Karachi, leading to a severe water crisis in Baldia Town. This was reported by ARY News on Tuesday.

A case has been filed at the Mochko Police Station, based on a complaint from the Assistant Executive Engineer of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB). According to the FIR, the accused, identified as Mushtaq and Amir, broke a 33-inch water supply line near the Northern Bypass and made a 2-inch hole to siphon off water. The stolen water is being sold through water tankers, exacerbating the situation in the region.

This incident is not isolated. Earlier in April, on the eve of Eid ul-Fitr, many areas in Karachi experienced severe water shortages, with supplies suspended even during the festival. Karachiites have continuously complained about the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) exacerbating their problems, especially during Ramazan, due to acute water shortages.
