Tesla CEO Elon Musk is set to contribute $45 million monthly to a super political-action committee (PAC) supporting former President Donald Trump's presidential bid, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. This significant financial commitment forms part of the backing for American PAC, which also includes notable figures such as Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, and coal producer executive Joe Craft.

America PAC, established in June, aims to register voters and encourage early voting and mail-in ballots in swing states. The organization's efforts are designed to counter the robust voter engagement initiatives by Democrats and the Biden campaign. As of a recent filing, America PAC had $8.75 million in contributions for the quarter ending June 30, with Musk expected to begin his donations in July.

Musk, the world's richest person with a fortune exceeding $250 billion, had previously declared on social media that he did not intend to support Trump or Biden financially. However, his stance has shifted, particularly after an assassination attempt on Trump at a Pennsylvania rally, prompting Musk to officially endorse Trump. The FBI identified the assailant as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, who remains under investigation.
