A Spanish tourist lost his life after being trampled by a herd of elephants in South Africa's Pilanesberg National Park. Carlos Luna, a 43-year-old from Zaragoza, was identified as the victim, according to La Vanguardia.

Luna, who was visiting the fourth-largest park in South Africa, encountered the elephants while in a private vehicle. Ignoring warnings from his fellow passengers and other onlookers, he left his car to take close-up photographs of the breeding elephants.

In a tragic turn of events, an adult elephant charged at Luna, followed by the herd. Despite his attempts to flee, he was caught and trampled to death, local police reported. This incident highlights the dangers of getting too close to wildlife. Plans are underway to repatriate Luna's remains.

Elephant attacks are not unusual in South Africa. In 2019, an elephant killed a suspected poacher in Kruger National Park, and another incident in Limpopo saw a security guard crushed to death by an elephant.
