A tragic incident at Khyati Multispeciality Hospital in Ahmedabad has unfolded, where two men lost their lives following an unnecessary angioplasty. A top Gujarat government official declared the procedure unwarranted, leading to a police complaint against the hospital management for culpable homicide and criminal conspiracy.
The victims, Nagarbhai Senma and Mahesh Barot, were among seven patients who underwent angioplasty at the hospital despite not needing the procedure. The state government's preliminary probe revealed lapses in medical judgment, prompting calls for actions against the hospital and doctors involved.
Following the incident, the hospital has been barred from the Ayushman Bharat - PMJAY scheme. Authorities are investigating past cardiology cases handled under PMJAY to prevent such future mishaps. Relatives have accused the hospital of hastening procedures for financial gain under the government scheme.
