King Charles paid a visit to the Melanoma Institute Australia in Sydney on Tuesday, where he engaged with cancer survivors and researchers dedicated to finding cures for skin cancer. This appearance marked a significant moment in his 16th official visit to Australia and his first major overseas trip since being diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer.

While there was no discussion of the King's personal diagnosis, he met with melanoma survivor Adam Brown, who was once given just 12 months to live following his diagnosis in 2015. Brown, accompanied by his wife Kristy, introduced their children as their 'two miracles' to King Charles.

The King also had the opportunity to converse with esteemed melanoma researcher and brain cancer survivor Richard Scolyer. Diagnosed with brain cancer last year, Scolyer underwent pioneering surgery that has since left his tumor in remission. Alongside researcher Georgina Long, both were recognized as Australians of the Year for their groundbreaking work in melanoma research.

King Charles also took time earlier in the day to meet with Indigenous elders in Redfern, Sydney. The interaction presented a stark contrast to the previous day, when he faced criticism in Canberra from senatorial Indigenous activist Lidia Thorpe regarding his role in Australian sovereignty.
