European soccer's governing body UEFA announced Tuesday an increase in funds for clubs not competing in men's continental competitions. The share for these clubs will rise from 4% to 7% of the €4.4bn projected revenue for the 2024-27 cycle, totaling €308mn—nearly 80% more than the previous cycle.
A cap of €10m has been set for the top five federations—England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France. As a result, the remaining 50 associations will see their funds grow from the current €135m to €258m. Distribution will be based 70% on their UEFA access list position and 30% on the amounts received by the top-earning club of each association, aiming to boost competitive balance in domestic leagues.
Additionally, a new strategy for women's football for the 2024-30 period was approved, with details to be released in the coming weeks.
