Junior Doctors' Standoff: Talks with West Bengal CM to Resolve Hospital Impasse

A group of junior doctors held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat, Nabanna, to resolve issues at RG Kar hospital. The delegation, larger than mandated, demanded live streaming of the meeting. However, no clarity was received on this demand during initial reports.

A group of junior doctors reached the West Bengal state secretariat, Nabanna, on Monday evening to engage in discussions with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The talks aimed to resolve the impasse at RG Kar hospital.

Accompanied by a police escort, the delegation arrived about 25 minutes late. Unlike the state's directive that only 15 representatives attend, 30 junior medics showed up to press their demands.

Before the meeting, the delegation insisted on a live stream of the progress. Despite previous rejections by the state chief secretary, both doctors and senior officials were seen in separate discussions contemplating this demand. As of the last update, there was no decision on live streaming the meeting proceedings.
