Night-time Pollution Linked to Alzheimer's: Study

A study highlights the potential link between night-time light pollution and the development of Alzheimer's disease. It suggests that irregular sleep patterns due to light exposure may increase the risk, especially in individuals under 65. The study calls for further research to better understand the combined effects of indoor and outdoor light exposure.

Night-time pollution from streetlights and illuminated signs has been linked with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, according to a study examining light pollution maps in 48 US states.

Researchers from Rush University Medical Center suggest that night-time light pollution should be considered an important risk factor for Alzheimer's. The study, published in the journal Frontiers in Neuroscience, analyzed medical records and light pollution data to understand this potential connection.

The findings revealed a stronger correlation between night-time light exposure and Alzheimer's among individuals under 65. The authors pointed out the need for further studies to fully grasp how both outdoor and indoor light affect the development of the disease.
