In a significant advancement for India's healthcare sector, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday inaugurated the nation's first indigenous Monkeypox (Mpox) RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) kit.

The revolutionary kit, developed by Transasia Diagnostics at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone in Visakhapatnam, has received validation from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).

'Proud to launch India's first indigenous monkeypox RT-PCR Kit. The lyophilized components in the kit are designed to be suitable for shipping and even use in remote areas,' stated CM Naidu on a post on 'X'.

According to Naidu, the kit significantly boosts epidemic preparedness by offering precise, reliable, and accessible diagnostic options.

The launch underscores the 'Make in AP' initiative, showcasing Andhra Pradesh's and India's leadership in healthcare innovation on a global platform.
