Junior doctors at the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi have decided to end their 'pen down' agitation, which was in response to the alleged rape and murder of a woman medic in Kolkata.

According to Ankit Kumar, president of the Junior Doctor's Association (JDA) at RIMS, the decision came after an appeal by the Supreme Court and a meeting with the state health minister. The apex court urged the doctors to resume their duties, emphasizing that 'justice and medicine' must not be halted.

Junior doctors had been striking since August 13, boycotting OPD and elective surgeries. The state health minister and RIMS administration addressed several key issues, including enhanced security and better facilities. The doctors will still wear black ribbons while on duty until justice is served for their late colleague.
