The Indian cricket team touched down at Chennai Airport on Thursday night in preparation for the highly anticipated Test series against Bangladesh. Key players, including Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul, were seen boarding the team bus.
The two-match series will commence on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The second Test is scheduled to start on September 27 in Kanpur. New head coach Gautam Gambhir will be keen on a series victory in his first Test assignment, with Rohit Sharma continuing as captain. Pacers Akash Deep and Yash Dayal have received their first Test call-ups, and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returns after his serious accident in December 2022.
Virat Kohli is set to return to the Test format for the first time since January. He missed the series against England due to the birth of his son and struggled in the T20 World Cup and Sri Lanka tour. Jasprit Bumrah also returns after his match-winning spell in the T20 World Cup final. Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja lead a strong spin attack, while Bangladesh will be without injured Shoriful Islam. This series marks a key step for both teams ahead of future tours and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
