A recent study analyzing long-Covid among children and teenagers in the US has revealed age-specific differences in symptoms. Children often experience brain and stomach-related issues, while fatigue and physical pain are more common in teenagers.

Conducted by a team of over 140 researchers, the study underscores the importance of age-based research in understanding long-Covid. The findings, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), are part of the US National Institutes of Health's (NIH) 'RECOVER' Initiative aimed at preventing long-Covid.

The research included more than 5,300 children and adolescents, noting that long-Covid symptoms common to adults were also prevalent in teens but differed significantly from those in children. The study developed a long-Covid research index to predict the likelihood of the condition, comprising 18 prolonged symptoms for children and 17 for teenagers.
