In light of a recent tragic incident in a Kolkata hospital, Dehradun Police have instituted a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aimed at bolstering the safety of women in government hospitals across the city.

Per the SOP, extra police forces will be stationed at Doon and Coronation hospitals, with officers equipped with wireless handsets operating around the clock. Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh reviewed the security protocols during a visit on Raksha Bandhan, directing station in-charges to conduct security audits at private hospitals as well.

The SOP mandates that police presence will concentrate in emergency wards while also patrolling other hospital areas to deter external threats. Police will report incidents promptly to senior officials and emphasize the safety of women medical staff. Furthermore, security will be enhanced through the formation of WhatsApp groups inclusive of key hospital and police personnel. Monthly coordination seminars with hospital senior officers are also required for ongoing vigilance.
