The Arvind Kejriwal government will initiate a cashless medical facility for over 20,000 retired Delhi Vidyut Board employees, Power Minister Atishi disclosed on Saturday.

The procedural file for the initiative was signed on Friday, and a notification will be issued next week, after which the scheme will be operational, the Delhi minister confirmed at a press conference.

The Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) will administer the cashless medical facility for employees of the Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB) who retired before April 2002. Following the unbundling of DVB in 2002, the organization was divided into individual generation, transmission, and distribution companies.

The governing bodies responsible for managing these facilities include the generation companies (PPCL and IGPCL), DTL, and three distribution companies (discoms), which will oversee the cashless medical facilities for employees who retired after 2002, Atishi stated.

Retired employees have faced significant challenges in securing reimbursements for their medical expenses, but these issues are set to be resolved with the new cashless medical facility introduced by the Kejriwal government, she added.
