In a distressing incident of food poisoning at a state-run residential school in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district, one more student was hospitalized on Friday, raising the total number of admissions to six, officials reported.

The crisis unfolded at the Rajkiya Ashram Paddhati Inter College in the Mehrona area, where approximately 80 students fell ill after consuming toxic food. The affected students were transported to Maharishi Deoraha Baba Medical College, with one tragic fatality recorded.

District Magistrate Divya Mittal confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the mess contractor, and the school's principal has been suspended. Investigations are ongoing, and the state government is working to provide a compensation of at least Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased student.
