Rajasthan Health Minister Gajendra Singh assured the members of the state Assembly on Tuesday that efforts will be made to start trauma centres in the district hospitals which lack this facility.

Singh noted that a provision has been made to open trauma centres in newly constructed district hospitals.

The minister was responding to supplementary questions posed by assembly members during the Question Hour.

He emphasized that according to central government guidelines, a person injured in an accident should not need to travel more than 50 kilometres for treatment. To meet this standard, there is a provision to establish a trauma centre at every 100-kilometre interval.

Earlier, in a written response, the minister stated that the government opens trauma centres in medical institutions located near national highways. He then provided a list of trauma centres opened in the state over the last three years, placing it on the table of the House.
