Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has awarded a significant contract to the consortium of Trident Agrocom Exports and Man Infraconstruction for the development of a Rs 284-crore agro facility. The consortium received the Letter of Award (LoA) on December 30th, marking a major step forward for the port administration.

The facility, located on a 27-acre plot within the port complex, aims to handle 1.2 million tonnes of cargo annually. It will improve India's processing, storage, and transportation infrastructure for agricultural commodities, significantly contributing to the nation's agro trade. According to Unmesh Sharad Wagh, Chairman of JNPA, the new infrastructure will be pivotal in strengthening India's agricultural export capacity.

Approved by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways in July, the project will focus on integrating comprehensive services such as processing, sorting, packing, and laboratory facilities, benefiting various states including Maharashtra and Gujarat. The facility addresses issues of wastage due to poor handling and storage, ensuring a streamlined port ecosystem.
