India Faces Challenge as Jasprit Bumrah Exits Fifth Test
Jasprit Bumrah's back spasm might sideline him from the remainder of the fifth Test against Australia. His potential absence poses a strategic challenge for India's squad and could favor Australia, especially given Bumrah's impactful performance as the leading wicket-taker in the series thus far.
India's cricket team may face a significant hurdle without captain Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the fifth Test against Australia. A back problem forced Bumrah to leave the Sydney Cricket Ground for scans on Saturday, casting doubt over his participation after the second day's play.
Bumrah, a standout player in the series, left the field with the team doctor shortly after lunch. Teammate Prasidh Krishna revealed the fast bowler was undergoing further medical examination. 'He had a back spasm,' said Krishna. 'The medical team is monitoring him, and we await their findings.'
Despite Krishna's impressive performance, Australia's coach Andrew McDonald acknowledged the threat posed by Bumrah. With India needing a win to level the series 2–2 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah's absence would require strategic adjustments.
