Justice V Ramasubramanian, a distinguished former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, has assumed the role as Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday, following his appointment by President Draupadi Murmu on December 21. Justice (Dr) Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi joins him as a member of the NHRC, signaling a new chapter for the Commission.
In his address, Justice Ramasubramanian underscored India's ancient tradition of prioritizing human rights, citing Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar to highlight the deep cultural roots of human rights within the country.
