Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stressed the integration of 'ease of justice' with 'ease of living' at a National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) event. The gathering marked Legal Services Day, celebrating the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, designed to offer free legal services to marginalized societal sections.
Addressing attendees, Meghwal lauded the efforts of legal services institutions and pledged ongoing Ministry of Law and Justice support to ensure equal justice access for vulnerable communities. Justice Sanjiv Khanna recognized the dedicated work of legal aid personnel while outlining NALSA's recent initiatives and future vision for India's legal aid landscape.
Justice B.R. Gavai, set to lead NALSA as Executive Chairman, reiterated the vital function of paralegals and panel lawyers, introducing an initiative to expand panel lawyer numbers. This expansion aims to extend legal services reach. The event showcased NALSA's Special Newsletter, newly launched schemes, and training modules, underscoring the commitment to advancing justice.
