Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL), a subsidiary of India's Adani Power, has halted half of its electricity supply to Bangladesh over unpaid dues amounting to USD 846 million, a local media outlet reported on Friday.

The Daily Star revealed that data from Power Grid Bangladesh PLC indicated a cut in supply on Thursday night, leading Bangladesh to face a shortfall exceeding 1,600 megawatts (MW) during the intervening night. Currently, Adani's plant, capable of producing 1,496 MW, is generating only 700 MW from a single unit.

Disputes regarding coal pricing and financial agreements per the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) have exacerbated the situation. Adani has warned of remedial action if the dues are not cleared by October 31, amid ongoing political and financial negotiations in Bangladesh.
