ADB Powers up West Bengal's Future: $241.3 Million Loan Boosts Electricity Distribution

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a $241.3-million loan to improve West Bengal's electricity distribution network, aiming to enhance the quality of life through reliable power supply.
This initiative aligns with the government's Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, focusing on operational efficiency and strengthening power distribution companies. According to ADB Principal Energy Specialist Roka Sanda, efficient and sustainable electricity service is pivotal to West Bengal's development.
The program targets nearly nine million consumers across seven districts, aiming to replace low-tension overhead lines, separate electricity feeders for agricultural and non-agricultural users, and implement integrated management systems for improved power supply quality and performance monitoring.
